Funding real green projects

We want you to feel confident that the money you invest in councils is spent on green projects that are helping tackle the climate crisis. That’s why we regularly check in with councils on how they are using the funds they raise across the investment term.

Keeping investors connected to what their money is doing

Our council investments pack a real punch on making a tangible impact on tackling the climate crisis. That’s because every pound invested will support essential climate projects in across the country.

But you don’t have to take that on trust. All our council investments are compliant with the Green Loan Principles. These are internationally recognised standards, also used by the UK Government for its green investments products, which require that the money raised can only be used on eligible green projects.

We monitor councils across the entire investment term, and investors receive regular updates on how their money is being spent. So, when you invest in our council green investments, you can be confident that your money is really supporting the green transition.

Council investments are funding innovative climate action and greening projects

Hundreds of councils have strategies to make their communities fit for the future. Even acting swiftly, climate change is going to fundamentally affect our lives over the coming decades. Rising temperatures and changing weather patterns have a big impact wherever we live.

Councils are using green investments to help support this important work - ranging from investing in new green spaces and sustainable drainage systems, to rolling out essential green technology like solar power and EV charging.
